The 2015 Cadillac Escalade had its first appearance in New York City this month. However, its debut on the market is scheduled for the next year, probably in the first quarter. This will be the fourth genesis of the GM’s most popular SUV. When it comes out in the showrooms, we can expect the biggest changes inside its cabin.

According to some reports, this big American will be offered with a lighter overall weight because of using more aluminum in its construction. Furthermore, it will share the new unibody platform, named K2XX, with its relatives, GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado. Also, all the customers will have an opportunity to choose among three different bed types – extra long, long and short. At the front of the vehicle, there will be more aggressive headlights with LED lamps and an updated grille made of chrome. Nonetheless, its taillights will be revised as well. As far as the interior design, this brand-new sports utility vehicle will be offered with seats made of better materials, whereas its dashboard will be equipped with a modern infotainment system controlled via touchscreen panel.

Speaking of the powertrain, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade will be supplied with a 6.2L direct injection V8 power unit with the ability to generate up to 420 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. As for the transmission option, this engine will be coupled with 8-speed automatic gearbox. Yet, based on some rumors, this new-generation giant will be also available with a new twin-turbo V-6 engine that is hoped to develop 420 horsepower. What’s more, it will be mated to 6-speed transmission, the same as the one used in above mentioned Silverado and Sierra.

The 2015 Cadillac Escalade is believed to cost from $65,000, but this is still only a speculation. We hope that there will soon be some more information about this popular car. Anyhow, we are sure that it will be a huge rival to Mercedes-Benz GL and GMC Yukon Denali when it appears on sale.
